Crowley Maritime Purchases Two Jones Act Tankers From Aker Philadelphia Shipyard

Jacksonville, Fla. — Crowley Maritime Corporation, based in Jacksonville Florida, signed a $250 Million contract with Aker Philadelpha Shipyard for the purchase of two new Jones Act tankers, the Pennsylvania and the Florida, that they had been building on spec since 2011.

BRIDGEWATER, Pa. — Beaver County commissioners said that a man working on the new Veterans Bridge project over the Beaver River was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after receiving a jolt of electricity after a crane from a barge hit some high tension power lines.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the families of the two Hungarian tourists who were killed when a barge crashed into the duck boat they were riding in, will split $15 million from a settlement with the companies that owned the vessels.
