RESERVE, La. – Two men were killed on Friday, Dec 30, when their 20 to 25 foot work boat, which was conducting river operations on the Mississippi River, capsized in what’s being called a “fleeting area” for barges.
The accident happened along the river bank at Triangle Fleeting, Inc. at a facility in the 900 block of Hwy. 44 in Reserve, La. just before noon on Friday. The Coast Guard says the boat is owned by American Electrical Power.
Eyewitnesses attempted to rescue the 2 men, but they were unable to reach them in time. The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed that both men drowned.
The victims names and ages were not released.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
